Adult jiu-jitsu self-defense (Beginner Program)

This program explores the 36 most important techniques of jiu-jitsu. It teaches a beginner the essential principles of timing, energy efficiency, and distance management for punch protection in a real fight. Each Zoom class begins with five minutes of mobility/warm-up and then we proceed to the standing technique of the day based on the predetermined curriculum schedule. At-home students are guided step-by-step on how to practice the technique without a partner. Then, we transition into the ground technique of the day which is broken down into a series of micro and macro movements/drills that are also designed to be practiced solo. At the end of each class we string all the techniques together in a Reflex Development Drill, and we also conduct a breathing/visualization exercise that provides each student the opportunity to close their eyes and put the techniques to use in a “real life altercation.” Each class is fun, empowering and collaborative. Whether you’re new to jiu-jitsu OR an experienced practitioner who never felt comfortable in your “self-defense” application of the art, Gracie Combatives is the Zoom program for you!

Youth jiu-Jitsu self-defense (Kids, Ages 4-12)

Thanks to Zoom, “kids’ classes” have become “family classes.” In every Youth Zoom-Jitsu class, parents and siblings (many of whom have never done jiu-jitsu before this) are getting involved and it’s awesome! Even though some children are completing the classes solo (and doing great), 90% of child participants have a training partner during the classes. Each class is packed with games, exercise, and techniques, strengthening the child’s confidence and the family bond. If your child is a beginner, between 4 and 12 years old, Youth Zoom-Jitsu classes are perfect for them. 

Private Zoom Classes

If you’re excited to get started on one or more of the programs above, but your schedule prevents you from joining our live sessions based on the schedule (inserted below), you might consider opting for Zoom private classes instead. Private classes can be arranged for any of our programs and are taught by the head instructors at Tatami Fit. You can work solo, or with a partner/dummy, and the instructor will personally demonstrate and instruct you through all the techniques based on the predetermined curriculum for the day.
